Whale Pond

A 20-minute walk from the orchard brings me to a marsh, where I like to sit high in a balsam fir and overlook Whale Pond. It's a great place to watch the seasons change. In fall 2005 I watched a cow moose swim out into the pond. The resident beaver did not appreciate the intrusion and swam out toward the moose slapping the water with his tail.
