Sometimes you find one that is so perfect you can't quite believe it.

Ella's morel mushrooms
Missy and I found over 13 pounds of morel mushrooms in spring 2010. Ella seems to like hunting for them and eating them as much as we do.

Fiddleheads for harvest
Luckily I have a good crop of ostrich fern near the spring -- the best type of fern to eat. You can recognize ostrich fern because it sits on a raised hummock and when it's young and ready for harvest, some of the fiddleheads still have a sheath of brown paper on them. Boil the fiddleheads 7 minutes, then finish in butter or olive oil on the stovetop. Serve with carmelized onions as a side dish. They are also excellent as a pizza topping.

Turkey hunt
These boys came through a day before the hunting season, and I showed up two days later. So I harvested fiddleheads, not turkeys.
